On Friday, May 9 Mr. Wayne Harper performed for an enthusiastic audience of 150 band and choir students in the band room of Calloway County High School, Murray, Kentucky. Mr. Harper gave us thumbnail sketches of blues players past and present, spoke of the musical elements that characterize the music we call "blues", highlighted the connection of blues to other musical styles, played and sang blues standards and original compositions, and, on behalf of the Kentucky Blues Society, distributed 50 harmonicas to excited student musicians. The students were captivated by Wayne's musical abilities and engaging presentation. Thank you, Kentucky Blues Society for helping make this possible. Attached are pictures from the performance.
