Youth Programs

All our Jam events are for teens as well as adults.  Our TEEN JAM is for teen performance only.   Which is why we hold all our Jams in nice restaurants beginning at 6pm.

All our events are family shows, all ages can attend.

There is no admission fee or cover charge. You do not have to be a member of the Kentucky Blues Society to participate.

KY BLUES JAM/all ages

Location: WHABAH Steakhouse, 2361 Russellville Road, Bowling Green, KY (270) 782-6400

Time: Every Sunday, 6pm to 10pm

PA and backline provided:  Full drum kit, Hartke Bass Amp, (2) Fender Mustang III amps, Roland FP-3 keyboard, Mackie PA w/ Yamaha monitors

How do I participate:
1. Put your name and performance skill on the sign up sheet when you arrive
2. bring your instrument and a cord or any specialty equipment you use.  (guitar, bass, harmonica, etc.)
3. Talk to Jam coordinator Troy Mimms and he will get you time on stage.

a. time is generally 2 or 3 songs per jam session, with repeat appearances later if possible.  We never know how many players we will have.  Each Jam is different.

4.   If you are a singer and want to sing a song,  make your fellow players aware of what the song is (key, tempo, any unusual changes)

ACOUSTIC JAM/for all ages

Location: MELLOW MUSHROOM, 1036 Chestnut St., Bowling Green, KY, (270) 393-1800

Time: Every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. 6pm to 9pm

PA, Roland FP-3 keyboard, and small drum kit provided.

How do I participate:

Hosted by Zach Smith (lead singer for Mahtulu)
TEEN JAM is for teens only, however sometimes an adult may accompany a teen, if the performance requires it.

Time: Every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, 6pm to 9pm

PA provided, bring an acoustic guitar w/cord if you play

JAZZ JAM/all ages

3. Talk to Jam coordinator Troy Mimms and he will get you time on stage.

4.   for material selection, our charts are available in .pdf form at www.KYJAZZ.com.  It really helps if you download and print out charts for the material you would like to perform.  Many jazz songs use 3 or 4 chord progressions .. while others are more complicated.
